Gourmet Conveniences, which exhibited at our recent Food Fete in New York City, just won the 2008 Fiery Food Challenge and “Best Overall Product” at the 2007 Zest Fest for its “Sweet Sunshine Sweet Chili Sauce.” The “Sweet” variety is just one of six flavors ranging from not-so-hot to “Atomic” at the higher end of the Scoville Scale.

When company founder Paul Sarris sent me product samples back in the spring, I knew his sauces were special. The “Sweet” variety has a terrific blend of sweet, tang and heat without being too sugary and thick. Even when I’m not cooking a dish calling for chile sauce, I find myself taking a spoonful…or two…or three…right out of the bottle when the urge hits me for that flavor.
Paul is also one of those food entrepreneurs whose passion for his product just overflows in his personality when talking about his sauces, so it’s great to witness his continuing successes.
